Player-built camera rigs

Cheap stands, ring lights, velcroed trays, and other hacks that keep the lens aimed at the dice.

Ring Light Tripod

Ring Light Tripod

by Rafyn

Floor-mounted ring light stand placed next to the desk with an iPhone 15 facing down over a collapsible dice tray. A piece of double-sided tape on the bottom of the tray keeps it from moving when picking up dice. Already had the ring light stand and phone, cost nothing to set up. The ring light itself is overkill for dice recognition with a phone camera; the stand is the useful part. Using the phone as the camera helps stay off it during game sessions: unplug and be in the game!

DIMONCOAT phone stand for desk ($17) with a hexagonal dice tray velcroed to the base. Nice and stable, the weighted base keeps everything secure. Had to place the dice tray slightly off-center to line up with the phone's camera for optimal recording.
